What are ambassador signup samples?
In an Ambassador Program you can offer free products as part of signup. When a creator is accepted, they can request samples from the products you listed. Growi creates the sample order in Shopify after you approve (or immediately, if you auto-approve).
Use this when you want seeding and an ongoing affiliate relationship: commission, discount code, and tracking stay on the same program.
Note: If you only want to seed product and do not need the creator in your ambassador program, use a Sample Program or send a Gift instead. |
How to turn samples on
Go to Stores > Shopify in the left sidebar.
Open the Setup tab under Ambassador programs.
Create a program, or open an existing one.
In the left stepper, open Free samples (or click the Free samples row in Program summary).
Choose products and review settings, then click Apply.
Click Update program (or Create program) to save.
Sample settings
Setting | What it does |
Sample products | Search your Shopify catalog and add the SKUs ambassadors may request. If a product has variants, leave none checked to offer every size or flavor, or check only the ones you want to seed. |
Review each request | Requests wait in Sample Requests until you approve them. Nothing ships until you do. |
Auto-approve | The Shopify sample order is created as soon as the ambassador requests it. Use this when you trust everyone you accept into the program. |
Allow requests after joining | Off by default. Turn it on so existing ambassadors can come back and request samples for products you add later. You can then set a total limit per ambassador and a cooldown in days between requests. |
Shipping method | Which Shopify shipping rate the sample order uses. Defaults to your store's default rate. If shipping methods fail to load, reconnect the Growi Shopify app so shipping scopes are authorized. |
What the ambassador sees
They apply through your ambassador form (or an invite you sent).
If you review applications, accept them first. Samples are not offered until they are in the program.
They pick a product (and variant), confirm a shipping address, and submit.
If you chose Review each request, the row appears in Sample Requests as Pending. If you chose Auto-approve, Shopify already has a draft or $0 order to fulfill.
Reviewing requests
Go to Stores > Shopify > Sample Requests. Filter by campaign to see one ambassador program at a time. Statuses include Pending, Awaiting shipment, Shipped, Content pending, Completed, and Cancelled.
When you approve, you can create the order in Shopify, or notify the creator by email without creating a Shopify order. You can also swap to a different campaign product if the requested variant is low stock. See How to Review and Fulfill Shopify Sample Requests.
FAQs
Do signup samples add the creator as a customer in Shopify?
Yes. Approving (or auto-approving) creates an order on your store, so your team fulfills it the same way as a normal order.
Can I add samples after ambassadors have already joined?
Yes. Add products on Free samples, then turn on Allow requests after joining if you want existing ambassadors to request the new SKUs.
Is this the same as a Sample Program?
No. A Sample Program is a standalone shareable link and does not create an affiliate relationship. Ambassador samples sit inside the program that pays commission.
